Social Development reiterates dedication to strengthening SASSA grants

Social Development Minister Sisisi Tolashe has pledged her help and commitment to enhancing South African Social Security Company (SASSA) products and services through an engagement while using the agency's senior administrators at a strategic planning session in Cape Town.
Tolashe on Tuesday expressed her heartfelt congratulations to the numerous social grant beneficiaries, who excelled in the 2024 matric examinations.
Of the 724 156 full-time learners who registered to the National Senior Certification (NSC), 572 338 are social grant beneficiaries, representing 81% with the registered pupils within the education and learning sector.
These learners achieved a commendable pass rate of 86%.
"This indicates the investment government is generating during the lives of very poor and susceptible small children is yielding a good affect in breaking intergenerational poverty," Tolashe claimed.
Reflecting on the latest achievements, the Minister highlighted key milestones and ongoing priorities. She committed to urgently addressing the issue of long lasting leadership appointments along with the scarcity of staff at most regional workplaces.
